  1. Hi, Mr. Tan.
I would like to know what you think about financial freedom.
My target is to have RM1,000,000 invest in dividend stock(ex reits, amway, bat...) and receive 6% dividend yield...
than every month will get RM60,000/12 = RM5,000

i think RM1,000,000 is a good start...but first need to get the RM1,000,000...

  2. Hi, thanks for your message. I think many people misunderstood about the meaning of FINANCIAL FREEDOM.

In my point of view, FINANCIAL FREEDOM is not a solid number, it is more like a formula that support the lifestyle that you want in future. There are few steps you need to follow through in order to calculate how much wealth you need to own right now in order to achieve FINANCIAL FREEDOM.

    Here is the steps:
    1) What kind of lifestyle you want to have from now until your last breath?
    2) Your family planning? How many kids you want to have?
    3) Based on above two steps, you should now at least have a picture in your mind on your future EXPENSES. Yes, EXPENSES is the first number you should draw out. Example, RM10k expenses per month?
    4) Your income (active or passive)?
    5) Can your passive income sufficient enough to cover your expenses? Active income is like a bonus here, in worst case you loss your active income, it is still fine. That's why I use passive income to cover expenses.
    6) Once your passive income is more than your expenses, congratulations, you are now free like a bird, can fly over the sky. You can even quit your active income job, and chase your dream, do whatever you want to do.

So to define FINANCIAL FREECOM, your EXPENSES is the key, the first thing you should think about.

Of course, the actual calculation is more complicated which involve inflation, projection of investment return, growth of investment return, potential risks in investment ...etc.

Haha.... Purely my point of view, I'm just a newbie like you.
